  • How long do engines last?

With proper maintenance, modern engines typically last 200,000–300,000 miles, with many exceeding 400,000 miles.

Regular oil changes are the single most critical factor.

  • What's the most important engine maintenance?

Regular oil changes with quality, manufacturer-recommended oil. This lubricates parts, removes contaminants, and prevents sludge buildup, dramatically extending engine life.

  • Is it worth repairing an old engine?

It depends. We recommend repair if the vehicle is otherwise in good condition, has sentimental value, and the repair cost is less than the vehicle's replacement value. We'll give you an honest assessment to help you decide.

  • Can I drive with a check engine light on?

If the light is solid and the vehicle seems normal, you can usually drive it for a short time, but get it diagnosed within a week.

If the light is flashing, or if you experience power loss or rough running, STOP DRIVING IMMEDIATELY.

  • Do engine repairs come with a warranty?

Yes. We stand behind our work with a labor warranty (typically 12 months/12,000 miles) and a parts warranty (1–3 years, depending on the manufacturer).

Remanufactured engines often include a 3-year/100,000-mile warranty.
